Biography
Ukyo (う京) / SouvenirStories
Ukyo is a Tokyo-based AI creator and a former plant engineer, now creating everything from films to websites and service design with AI.
After graduate school, Ukyo spent four and a half years taking plant equipment from design and procurement through on-site construction. With overtime topping 180 hours a month, the pandemic brought everything to a stop, and with it a question: “Is this the life I want? Am I just wearing myself down?” The answer was to go freelance.
The first job was freelance photography for international visitors in Tokyo. Along the way, Ukyo traveled to more than 30 countries.
In 2024, Ukyo began delivering AI-made video to clients. Over the next two years, as content director for an online healthcare education service, Ukyo worked on approximately 500 videos using AI, including production and direction, and ran live seminars on AI video production for members, with more than 2,000 attendees in total.
Ukyo also makes personal work, solo: the AI animated short Vampire Survival Strategy 2030, the picture book The Little Town Inside Your Tummy, and the music EP Meridian.
Today, Ukyo helps businesses build systems that hand routine work to AI, and teaches courses for people who create with AI. And for people who push themselves too hard, as Ukyo once did, there is Sattva Laboratory, a wellness brand Ukyo founded.
What matters is not throwaway tricks, but passing on a sense of judgment that holds true however AI evolves.
About SouvenirStories
SouvenirStories is the name Ukyo works under. It rests on three principles: designing experiences, moving people, and building systems that last.
